Linz and Salzburg

After concluding the cruise in the Wachau valley and  docking in Linz, we participated in a full-day excursion to the beautiful Austrian city of Salzburg, famous as the location for The Sound of Music. City highlights include being Mozart's birthplace and residence.

This arbor can be seen in the Sound of Music.

We walked by the home of the Sacher Torte.

We then crossed a bridge to tour "Old Salzburg."

We visited the flat occupied by Mozart and his family.

There was a wonderful market in the square behind Mozart's home.

This cemetery served as the model for the location in one of the key scenes in the Sound of Music.

We enjoyed a wonderful lunch at the outdoor cafe, the Golden Goose.

The rain was very cooperative and fell during lunch, and then the sun came out and we were able to shop until it was time to board the bus and return to the ship.
